He has 8 teammates and they have to complete obstacles like building rafts and sailing them in the river. The river is called Arkansas but it is not the great river; it is only a small river named after it. Does he make friends? Does he survive? Does he complete the course? Read it to find out! I enjoyed this book it is funny and it is easy to read. Being an artist, I like the pictures! I recommend this book to 7+ readers, although it might take you a long time to read it! I give it *****. The Tapper Twins go to war
Uncategorised / 17th November 2014

Title: The Tapper Twins go to war Author: Geoff Rodkey This book is about twins called Reece and Claudia who go to war with each other. It all starts off with Claudia eating Reece’s toaster pastry so at school Reece gets her back by saying she farted! The war escalates from here and they do horrible things to each other. The book is made up of emails, texts and side notes written by Claudia, her brother, her family, her friends and her enemies! I liked this book because of the style it is set out in. If you like a book that is different, read this one! I recommend this to 8+ readers who like fighting with their brother or sister. It’s a good book and deserves 10/10. DO NOT DO THE THINGS THAT THEY DO IN THIS BOOK BECAUSE YOU MIGHT GET A CRIMINAL RECORD OR WORSE!

He is hired by Jimmy Magpie, a malevolent magpie, to come to England and steal all the jewels in Littleton-On-Sea at the antiques fair. So Atticus goes over to Littleton-On-Sea and this is where his mission starts. When he gets there, he meets a family called the Cheddar family and they have two children, Callie and Michael and their dad is a police inspector and their mum wants to get a job on Get Rich Quick. Did, I just say he was a police inspector and then Atticus was a cat burglar?? Interesting! Is Atticus caught by Inspector Cheddar? Will he stop the antiques fair? Will he turn good again? Read the story to find out! This is a really good and funny book, even though I found the book a bit slow at the beginning. I give it 9 ½ out of 10.

Uncategorised / 3rd November 2014

Title: Timmy Failure – Now Look what you’ve done Author: Stephen Pastis This book is about a boy called Timmy Failure who is a detective and is about to solve the biggest case in the world! It is a competition to find a globe. Timmy’s motto is that he is the “president of the greatest detective agency in the state, perhaps the nation!” You can only find out if he is the best detective by reading the book to find out if he cracks the case. Although this is the second book in the series, I like them both the same. The pictures are excellent and funny! I recommend this book to 8+ and to children who like funny detectives. I give it 100/100.

In the letter he said that he was injured so Merry and her Mum get on the deadly Lusitania to Britain. When they got near the Scilly Isles, the boat was shot by a German U-boat and sunk and this is where the story begins… In the meantime, on the Scilly Isles, Alfie and his dad are out fishing trying to catch mackerel for Friday’s tea but instead of fish, they bring home a little girl! Who is this girl? Where does she come from? Why doesn’t she speak? Is she a German spy? I am not going to tell you so you can read the book and find out then! Secrets according to Humphrey
Uncategorised / 2nd October 2014

Title: Secrets according to Humphrey Author: Betty G. Birney ‘Sometimes you have to look-look-look to find the perfect book’ and this definitely was! Humphrey is a hamster who lives in room 26 of Longfellow School. He is a mischievous and adventurous hamster who has ‘a lock-that-doesn’t lock’ on his cage which is how he goes on his adventures around the school. In this book we learn all about Egypt and lots of secrets likes clubs and surprises but I’m not going to reveal them! Moreover, there are lots of friendships e.g. between Humphrey and Og the Frog, the children and the teachers. I like the friendship between Humphrey and Og the most because they communicate with bounces and talking and they are very nice friends. I recommend this to 7+ readers who are adventurers and who want to laugh their socks off. I want to read more of these books and the next one I want to read is “More Adventures according to Humphrey”. I give this book 10/10 especially because of Humphrey’s Secret Scribbles which made me want to read more! J

Precious and the Monkeys
Uncategorised / 8th August 2014

Title: Precious and the Monkeys Author: Alexander McCall Smith Alexander McCall Smith is one of my favourite authors and I have read quite a few books written by him. Out of all his books this is my favourite. This is the first book in the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency and is all about Precious’s first case and it was at her school.  Somebody had broken rule number 1 – “Don’t help yourself to other people’s things!” Precious has found out that Tapiwa’s cake, Sepo’s sandwich and Mama Molipi’s iced buns had been stolen – BUT WHO IS THE CULPRIT? A boy called Poloko was being accused because he was fat and had sticky hands. But Precious doesn’t think that it was him so she decides to find out! Does Precious find out who it is? Is Poloko actually the culprit? If Precious does find the culprit, how can she prove who it is? If you read the book, you will find out! I enjoyed this book a lot because the two morals are important: Don’t accuse people when you have no evidence. “When you want to do something, really want to do it, then you can, you really can”….
