This book was set in the landscape of the Camargue during WW2. A young, autistic boy called Lorenzo lived on a farm with his parents. He didn’t know much but he knew how to heal animals! He loved to go into town to ride his favourite animal on the carousel, Horse. It is there that he met Kezia, a Roma girl, who helped to run the carousel with her parents.

One day, the Germans came with their big guns. Amongst them was a kind, German Corporal who helped Lorenzo whenever he needed it. With the arrival of the Germans, everything was falling apart, even the carousel. So, the Caporal decided to help but how?

This is a story about friendship, war and dealing with difficult situations. This book has a rollercoaster of emotions, so be prepared to cry (just a little bit!). Ok, maybe a little bit more than a little bit!

Only two books have ever made the Book Brothers cry and they were both written by this award winning author! If you like books with a real story, I recommend this book to you. I give it 6/5 stars!
